Bike Games April 29, 2007

We had a pretty good turn out for the Bike Games at Tugman Park on April 29. It started out a little cold, but before long the sun warmed us up. A lot of the people came alone and a lot of the events were intended for two riders, so there may have been more watching than doing this time.

There was a tennis ball/pylon event, with a little change in that the rider had to pick up all the balls, and on the return trip had to return them in numerical order.
Tough enough to just put them down, much less look to see that they were in order.
The second event was the slow ride, with Phil P. taking about 30 seconds to get through the short stretch. Good job, Phil.

The third event had the rider holding a fishing net, and as the pair rode along, the task was to net as many of the stuffed animal “road kills” as possible. We all got better at that with practice.
The next event was dropping a tennis ball in a PVC pipe, and trying to time it so that the rider could catch it coming out the other end. Mike and Jerri were able to do that twice!
The next event was one that clearly leaned toward riders with sidecars. You were to throw 6 frisbees through a hanging hula hoop as you approached the target. Hard on two wheels, easy on three. Gordon got all 12 through the hula hoop.
Another event was to have the rider throw the hula hoops over the pylons, which was also easy for Mike and Dead-eye Jerri.

The last event, no one got. It was to throw a water balloon over the wooden scaffold, and catch it on the other side. Ha!
Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, and many salads and desserts made us all happy too. It was a fun day, and you don’t want to miss it the next time we have Bike Games at Tugman.
